something in the past and done...
(a history of anoetic)

chapter 1: the beginning

here is the story of three young musicians that came together to make something beautiful. once upon a time there were two siblings, ryan, and amy. ryan played guitar and piano amd was very good at it, and amy played flute and piano like there was no tomorow and both had a passionate love for music.  in september of 2002, ryan and amy's school began a program in which they would make a rock band of students in the school. this intrigued ryan.

meanwhile, in st albert, there was a young man named julian. he had recently returned to canada from germany. he came to live with his father, the infamous "andal," who was also a musician. due to his father's musicainship, julian began playing on "andal's" drum kit. he soon became very good at it.

ryan and amy in the vicious fishes days

back in edmonton, ryan and amy began their band with several kids from thier school. being that the population of the school was "deprived of the will to do anything exciting," everyone else dropped out except for the drummer and the singer, so ryan taught his sister, amy, to play the bass. they later called this ensemble "the vicious fishes." once the singer lost the will to sing, ryan, the shy boy that hides behind his hair, began singing. this continued for a while until the drummer decided to no longer be a part of this hootenanay. with the deprivation of a drummer, ryan and amy began advertising in a  magazine for a new one. a better one!!

returning to st albert, julian decided that drumming with his father's bands would not satisfy his musical thirst, so he began searching for a band to be a part of.

one fine day, these three individuals came together though the magazine in which ryan and amy advertised.  after that, they formed a band called anoetic. and here we are now.

from where it is, to where it will be, it began somewhere.

chapter two (2) : the second part

after having been formed on february 25, 2004, anoetic began working out songs (covers and originals) to perform later that year. ryan, amy and julian had a grand old time practicing in julian's father's studio/basement and just hangin', chilaxin', walkin' the dogs, makin' bbq pork chops, listenin' to music, goin' on long walks to find food.

on june 5th, 2004, anoetic played in front of their first audience at ashanti's infamous partay. everyone had fun and it can generally be said that a good time was had by all (though by some more than others...) and it was at this point that anoetic had unanimously decided "we should do this again sometime."

less than a month later, julian departed from canada on a loooooooooong vacation to visit the rest of his family in germany. it was from july 1st to august 20th that julian was "partying it up with his homeboys (and girls)"  in europe.

the show at b-scene, in which we rocked some socks off

in early september, anoetic began practicing once again in the hopes of playing a show "sometime in the fall."  well it just so happened  that a show was put together for the 23th of october, 2004 (sometime in the fall) at b-scene studios, with the likes of pandora's crypt, (the) blazing violets, forgotten fate, the girls club, and undisclosed.

in the meantime, the opportunity arose for anoetic to record a demo in andreas' studio, "the den" studio. the demo (which features three (3) of anoetic's original numbers: the lizard song, tired of this, and anoetic [which is featured on this site i might add]...) was recorded in a number (#) of days, and turned out nicely.

the show at b-scene went very well and again a good time was had by all (though by some more than others...) and anoetic sold all the copies of the demo they had printed for the show (which were for sale for five (5) dolla each.) the band then played a show less than one week later, on october 30th, 2004, at grace family church (?!) in st. albert.

it was a little over two (2) weeks from that day, on november 14th, 2004, that ryan and amy received notice from julian that he had decided to hang up his sticks because he could not make the commitment. ryan and amy respected his decision to resign, and began the search for a new drummer, once again. using the same magazine in which they had found julian, ryan and amy soon found denny. the story continues...
